Summary: An orientation to the SDS100/SDS200/UBCD3600XLT Programmer window – what’s on screen, and where the rest of this guide covers each part.

Before You See This Screen

This window only opens for a profile that already exists and has Enable Programming ticked. If you haven’t set one up yet:

1. Open Connect Settings.
2. Create (or select) a profile with Scanner System set to Uniden and Scanner Type set to your model – BCD436HP, BCD536HP, UBCD3600XLT, SDS100, SDS100E, SDS200, or SDS200E – and choose the correct COM port.
3. Tick Enable Programming for that profile.
4. Open Programmer, select that profile from the list, and click Open Editor – this brings you to the screen described below.

The Screen Itself

The window is split into two columns. On the left, a stack of action panels; on the right, the hierarchy editor where your programming actually lives.

Left column:

• Scanner Actions – Read from Scanner and Send to Scanner, the two actions that talk to your connected radio. See Reading, Backing Up & Restoring and Writing to Your Scanner.
• Favorites List Actions – the Data source dropdown with New Favorite and Add To buttons for pulling in frequencies from Squawker’s own database, and a Postcode / Marine / Quick Fill row with its own Clear All button alongside it. See Filling a Favorites List and Quick Fill.
• Backup and Restore – an Auto backup before sending checkbox, a Save button for on-demand backups, Open Folder, and a list of your existing backups with Restore and Delete next to each one. See Reading, Backing Up & Restoring.

Right column – Scanner Configuration:

Four stacked, resizable panels forming the programming hierarchy, each with its own Add and Delete buttons:

• Favorites Lists – the top level. Each one can hold multiple Systems.
• Systems – belonging to whichever Favorites List is selected above.
• Departments – belonging to whichever System is selected.
• Channels / Frequencies – belonging to whichever Department is selected, with columns for frequency, modulation, tone/DPL, priority and more.

Selecting an item at one level filters what’s shown at the level below it, so you always know which List/System/Department you’re currently working inside. See Editing, Sorting & Deleting for the full rundown of working with this hierarchy.

One thing worth knowing up front: while a Read or Send operation is running, the whole window locks with an overlay and there’s no Cancel button – see Writing to Your Scanner before your first write.
