AR-DV3 Receive Modes, Auto Mode & Digital Auto

Summary: The AR-DV3’s demodulation modes and its two automatic modes.

Choosing a Mode

Press [MODE], turn the dial and press [ENT].

  • Analogue: CW, LSB, USB, AM, SAH, SAL, FM and F-AU (auto).
  • Digital: DSTAR, YAES, DMR, D-CR, dPMR, P25, ALIN, T-DM, T-TC and D-AU (digital auto).

Set the mode that’s correct for the band you’re on.

Auto Mode (F-AU)

Sets the demodulation mode, IF bandwidth, step, step adjust and offset automatically according to the receive frequency and your region setting. It applies to analogue modes only. The “FA” icon shows. Changing the IF bandwidth, step, mode and so on cancels it, and where auto mode sets an offset you can’t change the offset unless you leave auto mode.

Digital Auto Mode (D-AU)

Automatically detects the digital mode when a signal arrives; hold [MODE] or select D-AU. “DA” shows. TETRA (T-DM and T-TC) isn’t detected and must be set by hand. If noise or poor conditions stop identification, set the mode manually. Unsupported digital systems can’t be identified.

Squelch in Digital Modes

Digital modes operate as FM, so noise squelch (NSQ) applies in AUTO.
