AR-DV3 SD Card: Recording, Backup & Restore

Summary: Using the AR-DV3’s SD card: recording, playback, backup, restore and delete.

Card and Folders

SDHC up to 32 GB, FAT32 (format with the official SD Memory Card Formatter if unsure). When a card is inserted an AR-DV3 directory is created; recordings and backups go in a date-named folder (YYYYMMDD) beneath it, and firmware files go in the AR-DV3 folder itself.

File types: recording .WAV (with the receive log inside), memory backups .CSV, firmware .DV3.

Recording and Playback

  • Record: press the record key to start and stop; the SQL. SKP config item (squelch skip) pauses recording while the squelch is closed.
  • Play: [F] then the SD key, choose LIST-VIEW, [ENT], select the date directory and the .WAV and press [ENT]; [CLR] stops, [PASS] goes back.

Backup

[F] then the SD key, choose BACK UP-SET, [ENT], pick the type and press [ENT]. Don’t turn the power off while writing. Types (all .CSV):

  • SRCH BANK, SRCH GRP., MEM CH., MEM BANK, SCAN GRP.
  • USER AUTO: your user data for Frequency Auto (F-AU)
  • SYSTEM (ALL): everything, including memory data

Back up regularly to another medium as well.

Restore

[F] then SD key, LIST-VIEW, choose the date directory and the backup .CSV and press [ENT]. It overwrites the current data.

Delete

In LIST-VIEW choose the file, press [F] then [CLR] and [ENT] to confirm. One item at a time; a folder must be empty before it can be deleted. Deleted data can’t be restored.

CSV Files

The manual doesn’t document the column layout of the CSV files. See AR-DV3 Loading Frequencies From Squawker PC & Squawker Online.
