AR-DV10 Audio Recording & SD Card

Summary: Recording and playing audio with the AR-DV10’s microSD card.

The Card

Lift the rubber cover marked MicroSD and insert the card. The card icon on the right of the screen blinks while the receiver reads it and turns solid when it’s ready (large cards take longer). If no icon appears the format isn’t recognised or the contacts are dirty. Never remove the card while recording or writing. The receiver can’t format cards: use the official SD Formatter (sdcard.org).

Recording

  • Format: WAV, 16-bit, mono (the manual prints 38400 “kHz”, which is 38.4 kHz sampling).
  • File names: eight digits (00000001.wav, then 00000002.wav and so on); recording is impossible if 99999999.wav exists.
  • Duration: about 3.5 hours per GB; long recordings are split into 100 MB files (about 21 minutes). It won’t start if the card is full.
  • Start/stop: press the [REC] key; the [REC] icon shows and blinks while data is being written after you stop.
  • Skip blanks: [MENU] > CONF > SQL.SKIP ON pauses recording when the squelch is closed.

Recordings also carry the date and time (there’s no date stamp in the file name), and can be played on a PC.

Playback

Long press [REC], then [ENT] for the recordings list. Browse, select and press [ENT]; “[PLAY]” blinks. Press [CLR] to stop.

Other Uses

The card also stores memory backups (CSV) and firmware updates. See AR-DV10 Backup, Restore & Firmware Update.
