AR-DV10 Program Search, Search Banks & Groups

Summary: Searching frequency ranges with the AR-DV10.

What It Does

Program search tunes through every step between two limits looking for activity. There are 40 search banks (00-39) and 10 search groups. It’s very effective for AM and NFM on VHF and UHF; shortwave is usually not worthwhile because of noise. Set the squelch correctly first.

Creating a Search Bank

[MENU] > SRCH > BANK EDIT > [ENT]. Parameters: BANK, LOW F. and HI F. (MHz), MODE, IFBW, STEP (10 Hz to 500 kHz), T (title), PROTECT, SQL N/L, SQL TYPE, CTCSS, DCS CODE, AGC, OFFSET F. and V.SCR. Save with line 9 (MEM CH PARAM SET).

Running a Search

[MENU] > SRCH > BANK > [ENT], type the bank number and it starts. Raise the squelch if it stops on noise. Change direction with the up/down keys; turn the dial one click to resume. [ENT] copies the stopped frequency to VFO-Z; [ENT] again returns.

Search Pass

While stopped press [MENU], [ENT], choose PASS ON. Each bank holds 50 pass frequencies (2,000 in total). To erase: [MENU] > EDIT > PASS FREQ > [ENT] twice, choose the bank, then one pass frequency (line 2 F.NO, then line 9 DEL EXEC) or ALL (line 4 DEL 1PF/ALL).

Search Groups

[MENU] > SRCH > GRP EDIT > [ENT] twice, choose the group and link banks with [.] (as for scan groups), press [9], then set DELAY TIME (default 2 s), FREE TIME (default OFF) and AUTO STORE. Auto store saves the first 50 active frequencies found to memory bank 39 for later review (default OFF). To run: [MENU] > SRCH > GRP, enter the number and [ENT]; then [MENU] > SRCH > [ENT].
