AR-DV3 Tone Squelch, DCS, Voice Squelch & Descrambler

Summary: The AR-DV3’s extended squelch functions.

Selecting One

[F] then [1] shows TONE/CODE SQL. At SQL turn the dial to choose CTCSS, RTN, DCS or V.SCR, move down to the value, turn the dial and press [ENT]. Only one operates at a time, and they need FM with 6 or 15 kHz IF bandwidth.

  • CTCSS (tone squelch): audio only when the tone matches. Includes a SRCH search for the tone.
  • RTN (reverse tone): mutes while the tone is present.
  • DCS: digital code squelch (individual calling), also with SRCH.
  • V.SCR: restores inverted (scrambled) audio: 2000-7000 Hz in 10 Hz steps. (Not on the US consumer version.)
