How can we help?

Switching Between Scanner Mode and Radio Mode

Each profile can work as a Scanner (sweeping a range or list) or a Radio (a manual tune-anywhere VFO) — switched with the toggle at the top of its tab.

It’s a Live Switch — With One Catch

Flipping the toggle immediately changes which controls you see. But if the profile is already running when you switch, the radio itself keeps doing whatever it was last started with — the switch doesn’t automatically stop and restart it. Fast Scanner will note this in the log (“Mode switch applies on next Stop/Start”) so you don’t miss it. To actually apply the new mode, click ■ STOP, then ▶ START again.

The one time this is done for you: a Tune sent from the UKAFG map puts the profile into Radio mode on that frequency and restarts the engine itself (see Tune, Track and Scan These).

Your Settings Are Kept Separately

Scanner-mode settings (band range, step, scan list, and so on) and Radio-mode settings (VFO frequency, demodulation mode, bandwidth) are stored independently — switching back and forth doesn’t reset either one. Flip back to Scanner mode later and your previous scan range is exactly as you left it.
