AR-DV1 Reset, Firmware Update & Troubleshooting

Summary: Resetting the AR-DV1, updating its firmware and fixing common problems.

Resets

  • System reset: switch off; hold [CLR] and push and hold the volume knob until Sys.Reset appears. Settings return to factory defaults but memory channels, search banks and groups are kept.
  • Full reset: switch off; hold [CLR] and push and hold both the volume and squelch knobs until FullReset appears. All settings and memory data are deleted.

Back up the memories first (see AR-DV1 SD Card: Recording, Backup & Restore).

Firmware Update

  1. Download the firmware from AOR’s AR-DV1 page (aorusa.com or aorja.com) onto an SD card.
  2. Insert the card, press [F] then [7], choose SYS.UPDATE and [ENT].
  3. Choose the firmware file and press [ENT]. It takes 1-2 minutes.
  4. When complete, disconnect the power (switching off isn’t enough), wait 30 seconds, reconnect and switch on.

The update re-initialises settings, but memory banks stay.

If Something Seems Wrong

  • No control or frozen display: switch off for about 10 seconds and on again, then try a reset.
  • No sound: check the squelch level, the volume, any tone or voice squelch that might be active, and that a digital mode isn’t selected without a matching signal.
  • Scan or search doesn’t work: set the squelch to threshold.
  • Can’t tune a frequency exactly: you may need step adjust: see AR-DV1 Tuning: Steps, IF Bandwidth & Step Adjust.
  • Clock wrong: it needs constant power.

Care

Keep it out of direct sunlight, heat, damp, dust and vibration; wipe it with a soft dry cloth, never solvents; keep liquids away from the controls and jacks.
