AR-DV3 VFO Mode & VFO Search

Summary: Tuning and searching with the AR-DV3’s VFOs.

VFO Modes

  • VFO-Z: a single VFO, entered with [F] then [VFO]. Pressing [ENT] in search or scan copies the stopped signal here.
  • Two VFOs (A and B): each [VFO] press switches between them.

Everything you can do in VFO mode: enter frequencies by keypad, dial or [UP]/[DOWN]; change mode ([MODE]), IF bandwidth ([F][MODE]), step ([F][2]), step adjust ([PASS] in the step screen), ATT/AMP ([F][5]), AGC ([F], hold [5]), and the option menu ([F][9]). Also record ([REC]), priority ([F][4]), offset ([F][.]) and squelch functions ([F][1]).

VFO Copy

Choose the source VFO, press [F] then [PASS] (“VFO COPY”), turn the dial to the destination and press [ENT].

VFO Search (VSR)

A quick search between VFO-A and VFO-B with no search bank needed. The IF bandwidth, mode and step follow the VFO you start from.

  1. Press [VFO] to swap between A and B and set the two limits.
  2. Hold [VFO] or [UP]/[DOWN] to start. Adjust the squelch.
  3. Press the dial or [UP]/[DOWN] to change direction, [VFO] to end, [ENT] to copy the stopped signal to VFO-Z, and [PASS] to add it to the pass list.

VFO Search Settings

[F] then hold [VFO]: DELAY (OFF, HOLD or 0.1-9.9 s; default 2.0 s), FREE (OFF or 1-60 s; default OFF), STORE (auto-store found frequencies in memory bank 39; default OFF) and DEL.BK39 (delete everything in bank 39: select DELETE and confirm).

Pass

Up to 50 pass frequencies for VFO search. Hold [PASS] while in search to open the delete menu.
