TRX-1 First Power-Up: Bandplan & Clock

Summary: The prompts the TRX-1 shows the first time it’s switched on, and how to change those settings later.

Bandplan

On first power-up the scanner asks you to set the bandplan. Use the arrow keys to choose USA or Canada and press SEL. There is no UK or European bandplan option. That matters because the bandplan decides the channel steps the scanner uses in some bands; see TRX-1 Specifications & Frequency Coverage for the step sizes listed in the guide and check that the frequencies you want tune correctly.

Date and Time

The scanner then asks for the current date and time. Use the left and right keys to choose a digit, and up and down to change it, then press SEL. Press SKIP to skip this. The clock stamps recorded audio files, so it’s worth setting.

These prompts appear only once. Afterwards you can change the date and time with Set Clock in the Main Menu (or with the EZ Scan software), and the bandplan in Global Settings.

Getting Going Quickly

Once set up, the scanner can be programmed two ways: Set Location (fast, US and Canada) or the Preferred method of building scanlists yourself. See TRX-1 Programming From the Library: Set Location & Browse Library. For anywhere else, add conventional frequencies yourself; see TRX-1 Programming Conventional Channels & Editing Objects.
