Filling a Favorites List – The Data Dropdown, New Favorite & Add To
Summary: Using the Data dropdown to pull frequencies from Squawker’s own database into a new or existing Favorites List, via New Favorite and Add To.
The Data Dropdown
The Data dropdown lists Currently Selected (the default) plus every category found in Squawker’s frequency data. Currently Selected pulls whatever you’ve built up on the main window – it prefers your Multi-Select list if you have one, otherwise falls back to whatever rows are ticked in the grid, and failing that, whatever your current search/filter is showing.
New Favorite
Click New Favorite to build a brand-new Favorites List from whatever’s chosen in the Data dropdown:
- Aviation data gets split automatically into a “National” group plus one group per airport.
- WTR/Business data becomes a single “WTR” list, organised by mode.
- Everything else becomes one Favorites List, with one Department created for each distinct “User” value in the source data, and every row landing as a Channel in the matching Department.
Add To
Click Add To to add the chosen data into a Favorites List you already have, rather than creating a new one. This opens a dialog where you pick which Favorites List to add into and which System within it (skipped automatically if that list has no Systems yet), then choose how to organise it into Departments:
- Use existing department – adds everything into a Department you pick from a list.
- Auto create new department/s – splits the incoming data by its “User” values into new Departments automatically, the same way New Favorite does.
- New Department – creates one new, named Department and puts everything into it.
This is the closest equivalent to a “bank already has data” prompt, but reworked for the hierarchy – rather than choosing overwrite/add/skip-to-next-bank, you’re choosing exactly where in the structure the new data should land.
