AR-DV1 VFO Search & Program Search

Summary: Searching for active frequencies with the AR-DV1: VFO search, program search and search banks.

VFO Search

The simplest search: it sweeps between VFO-A and VFO-B, using the mode and step of VFO-A.

  1. Set VFO-A and VFO-B to the two limits.
  2. Hold [VFO], [UP] or [DOWN] for two seconds to start.
  3. Change direction with the dial or [UP]/[DOWN]. When it stops on a signal you can resume manually the same way.
  4. [PASS] registers the stopped frequency as a pass (skipped next time); [VFO] stops.

VFO search options ([F] then hold [VFO]): DELAY (OFF, HOLD or 0.1-9.9 s, default 2.0), FREE (OFF or 1-60 s), STORE (ON saves found frequencies to memory bank 39, default OFF) and DEL.BK39 (empties bank 39).

Program Search

40 search banks (00-39). Each has a lower and upper limit, step, mode (or AUTO), IF filter, a title and protect. Search starts at the lower limit, goes to the upper and loops. Press [SRCH]; “SER” appears. Nothing happens if no banks are programmed. Select a bank with the two-digit number.

Programming: [F] then [6], choose the bank, then enter L.FRQ and U.FRQ (MHz, [ENT] after each), STEP (with [PASS] for step adjust), MODE and IF bandwidth, TITLE, PROTECT, then [ENT]. Delete a bank with [F] then [CLR] in program search.

Pass Frequencies

Press [PASS] on an unwanted frequency. Each search bank holds 30 pass frequencies (1,200 in total). To delete one, hold [PASS] for two seconds, pick the bank and frequency and press [PASS]; [F] then [PASS] deletes all in the bank.

Search Groups

[F] then [SRCH]: 10 groups (0-9) with bank link, DELAY and FREE as for scan groups.

Tip

Search is best for AM and NFM on VHF and UHF; shortwave searching is inefficient because of noise. Once you’ve found active frequencies, store them in memory and scan. See AR-DV1 Memory Channels & Banks.
