Filling Channels – Quick Fill & Program Group with Data
Summary: Using Quick Fill for a fast automatic set of local channels, or Program Group with Data to pull a specific category into a chosen group.
Quick Fill
Enter a Postcode (or leave it as your saved location) and click Quick Fill to automatically build a set of channels for your area, each organised into its own category and group with sensible mode/step settings already applied – aviation frequencies nearby, ATC (split civil and military), the common airband channels, Ham 2m/70cm and ISS, PMR analogue, Baofeng/FRS/GMRS, and fireground/mountain rescue/Polycon frequencies. Tick Marine to also include Marine VHF – this is ticked automatically if your postcode looks coastal, but you can override it either way.
Program Group with Data
For more control than Quick Fill, use the Data Source dropdown to pick a specific category from Squawker’s own frequency data (or Currently Selected, which uses whatever’s ticked or selected on the main window), then click Program Group. This opens a dialog where you either pick an existing group to fill or create a new one – if the group you choose already has channels in it, you’ll be asked whether to overwrite them completely or add to what’s already there.
The AF Filter and VSC checkboxes apply those settings to every channel this creates. Note that digital PMR/DMR/dPMR categories aren’t offered here, since the IC-R15 can’t receive digital PMR.
Clear All
Clear All removes every channel across every category and group, after asking you to confirm – a clean slate before rebuilding from scratch.
