Quansheng UV-K1/K5 Programmer Screen at a Glance
Summary: An orientation to the Quansheng UV-K1/K5 Programmer window – what’s on screen, and where the rest of this guide covers each part.
Before You See This Screen
This window only opens for a profile that already exists and has a COM port set. If you haven’t set one up yet:
- Open Connect Settings.
- Create (or select) a profile with Scanner Type set to Quansheng UV-K1/K5, and choose the correct COM port – Squawker PC scans your available ports automatically and lists any it finds a Quansheng radio answering on.
- Open Programmer, select that profile, and click Open Editor – this brings you to the screen described below.
See Overview, Firmware Requirement & Getting Connected before you go any further – this radio needs specific custom firmware installed before Squawker PC can read or write anything, and that’s worth knowing before you start.
The Screen Itself
- Title bar – shows your COM port, an ⓘ info button explaining the firmware requirement, and a Receive Only / Transceiver toggle. See Receive Only vs Transceiver Mode.
- Scanner Actions – Read from Radio and Write to Radio. See Reading, Backing Up & Restoring and Writing to Your Radio.
- Scan List Actions – a Data source dropdown with Program List and Clear List, plus a Postcode / Quick Fill row with its own Clear All Lists button. See Filling Scan Lists.
- Backup and Restore – an Auto backup before sending checkbox, Save, Open Folder, and your existing backups with Restore and Delete next to each.
- Scan list tabs (right side, top) – one tab per scan list in use, showing its name and channel count. Lists with nothing in them stay hidden until you use New List or Quick Fill creates one.
- Channel grid (right side, main area) – the channels in whichever scan list tab is selected. See Editing, Sorting & Deleting Channels.
There’s no Cancel button anywhere in this window – see Writing to Your Radio before your first write.
