SDS200E Close Call

Summary: How Close Call detects strong nearby transmitters on the SDS200E and how to set it up.

What It Does

Close Call detects nearby strong transmitters. It can check every 2 seconds in the background while you scan or search, or run in Close Call Only mode. Do-Not-Disturb only checks when you’re not receiving a transmission.

The Close Call Menu

Menu, Close Call:

  • Close Call Only – turns off scanning and searching and only watches for Close Call hits.
  • Hits with Scan – Set Avoid (Stop Avoiding to include Close Call hits while scanning) and Set Hold Time (how long to scan the hits each cycle).
  • Set CC Mode – Off, CC DND (checks only when no other voice traffic is being received) or CC Priority (checks every 2 seconds even during voice traffic).
  • Set CC Alert – Set Alert Tone (the tone and volume; Auto uses the current volume), Set Alert Light (the colour and blink pattern) and Set CC Pause (how long the scanner displays the Close Call hit before resuming).
  • Set CC Bands – scroll to each band and press E to switch Close Call checks for it on or off.

Number keys 0-6 toggle Close Call bands while Close Call is running; Func then Menu opens the Close Call menu.

Related Options

Close Call also uses the settings in Srch/CloCall Opt (broadcast screen, repeater find, delay and attenuator) – see SDS200E Searching: Quick Search, Custom Search & Search Keys.
