How can we help?

The Now-Listening Panel

A status line above the panel always shows your connection state, the engine state, the scan rate, an estimated time per sweep, and how many channels are currently active.

Now-Listening

While the scanner is moving, the panel reads Scanning in green with a grey status dot. When it parks on something you see:

  • The status dot — amber while it’s attempting to park, green once the squelch is open and you’re receiving.
  • The parked frequency and the station label — the nearest station known on that exact frequency (see Also Used By for the others sharing it).
  • The channel’s demodulator — AM, NFM or WFM. On a channel set to Auto it reads Auto… while the engine listens, then settles to what it chose, e.g. NFM · auto (see Auto Mode).
  • A live level readout in dB.

Four buttons appear once something’s being listened to:

  • Pause/Resume — hold the scan on the current channel.
  • Temp L/O — session-only lockout of this channel, then moves on.
  • Lockout — permanent lockout of this channel, then moves on.
  • ⏭ Skip — skip and keep sweeping.

(See Auto-Lockout & Managing Lockouts for more on the lockout buttons.)

The Map Switch

At the right-hand end of the panel is a Map switch. This is Scanner Follow: switched on, the UKAFG interactive map (opened inside Squawker PC) draws the airspace each parked frequency works and keeps only the aircraft inside it — see Scanner Follow.

Beside the switch, a green note tells you when the map is driving your scan list rather than your own settings — Following VIR157L · 127.100, 133.975 while you’re tracking an aircraft, or Map list: East Midlands (EGNX) · 12 channels after a Scan these from a map popup. See Tune, Track and Scan These.

The Active Channels table that earlier versions showed in Multi mode is gone, along with Multi mode itself (October 2026).
