How Scanning Works: Park, Listen, Resume

The scanner sweeps the frequencies you’ve chosen until it finds an active signal, stops (“parks”) on it, plays the audio, then resumes sweeping once the signal drops — or sooner if you Skip, Temp L/O or Lockout the channel from the Now-Listening panel. How long it waits after the signal drops is set by Hold (s) on the Filters card, with Max hold (s) as a hard cap on any one stop.

Changing Things While It Runs

Most settings apply live. Since October 2026 that includes the scan source itself: picking another scan list, another Channels choice, or flipping the Frequency range / Scan list switch while scanning restarts the scan on the new set straight away — there’s no need to press ■ STOP and ▶ START yourself. (A map Track that’s running ends when you do this.) The one switch that still waits for a Stop/Start is Scanner ⟷ Radio — see Switching Between Scanner Mode and Radio Mode.

Multi Mode Has Been Retired

Earlier versions had a second “Multi” mode that logged every active channel across the band without stopping on any of them, and played no audio. It was removed in October 2026, so the scanner now always works as described above. A profile saved while in Multi mode simply opens as a normal scanner — nothing else about it changes.
