VHF/UHF Radio Propagation

Summary: Reading the propagation status badge to understand current VHF and UHF listening conditions.

A persistent, colour-coded propagation badge on the map gives you an at-a-glance read on current radio conditions relevant to VHF/UHF listening. Click or tap it to expand the full detail:

  • E-Skip — sporadic-E propagation conditions across Europe, and specifically on the 6m and 4m bands.
  • VHF Aurora — auroral propagation conditions affecting VHF.
  • Geomagnetic Activity — general geomagnetic conditions.
  • K-Index — a measure of geomagnetic disturbance.
  • Solar Flux — solar activity levels, which influence radio propagation.

This is aimed at radio listeners and amateurs who want to know whether conditions are currently favourable for unusual long-distance VHF/UHF reception, without needing to check a separate propagation site.
