This scans your radio’s channel memory to find what’s actually programmed, pulls in the channel data and all 24 scan list names, and replaces whatever’s currently shown in the editor. It’s a one-way read for review – nothing is written back.

Backups Are Simpler Here, By Design

Unlike Squawker PC’s other, more established scanner guides, backups for this radio are saved as plain files rather than the shared encrypted backup format used elsewhere – there’s less to protect here, since it’s just frequency and name data. Functionally, backup and restore work the same way you’d expect:

• Auto backup before sending (on by default) reads what’s actually on your radio right now and saves it immediately before a write – not what’s currently staged in the editor, so it genuinely captures what’s about to be overwritten. If this backup read fails, the write is cancelled entirely rather than proceeding without a safety net.
• Save creates a backup of your radio’s contents on demand, named however you like.
• Every backup appears in Existing Backups with Restore and Delete next to it. Restoring replaces what’s in the editor – it doesn’t touch your radio until you write again. Open Folder takes you straight to where backups live on disk.

Your Editing Session Is Also Remembered

Separately from backups, whatever you’ve staged in the editor (including your Receive Only/Transceiver choice) is remembered automatically and restored next time you open the Programmer for the same profile – so closing and reopening the window doesn’t lose unsaved work.
