BCT15X/UBC3500XLT/UBC800XLT Programmer – Overview & Getting Connected
Summary: How the System/Group/Channel hierarchy works, a note on trunked systems, and how to get connected.
The BCT15X/UBC3500XLT/UBC800XLT family uses a three-level hierarchy – System > Group > Channel – simpler than the SDS100/SDS200/UBCD3600XLT family’s four levels, but with its own real capacity limits and per-model differences (see Model Differences – BCT15X, UBC3500XLT & UBC800XLT for the full breakdown, since these genuinely vary between the three models).
A Note on Trunked Systems
Like the System Type dropdown on the SDS100/SDS200/UBCD3600XLT family, the Type column on a System here offers trunking options (MOT, EDC, EDS, LTR) alongside CNV (conventional) – but there’s currently no way to actually enter talkgroup IDs anywhere in the Programmer, so selecting a trunked type doesn’t give you working trunked-system programming. If you need genuine trunking support, this isn’t currently the tool for it – stick to Conventional systems here.
Getting Connected
- In Connect Settings, create or select your profile with Scanner System set to Uniden, Scanner Type set to your exact model, choose the correct COM port, and tick Enable Programming.
- Open Programmer, select that profile, and click Open Editor.
- Click Read from Scanner or Send to Scanner when you’re ready to talk to the radio – there’s no separate “connect” step.
- If it can’t connect, double-check: the scanner is powered on, the USB cable is properly seated, you’ve selected the correct COM port, and no other program is using it.
