AR-DV3 Priority, Offset & Audio Equaliser

Summary: The AR-DV3’s priority channel, offset reception and audio equaliser.

Priority Reception (PRIO)

While receiving, the AR-DV3 checks one memory channel at a set interval and stays on it while there’s a signal. It works in VFO, VFO search, search and scan modes. Only one channel can be registered.

  • Set: [F] then hold [4]: choose the bank-channel, DELAY (OFF or 0.1-9.9 s: the wait before returning) and INTERVAL (1-99 s). [ENT] to confirm.
  • Start/stop: [F] then [4]; “PRIO” shows.

The squelch must be set correctly or it won’t work well, and noise as the frequency switches is normal.

Offset Reception

For duplex or repeater pairs. [F] then [.], choose the number with the dial: 00 off; 01-19 user editable (type the offset; [PASS] toggles + or -); 20-39 presets. The maximum is +/-500 MHz. “DUP” shows. Hold [MONI] to listen on the offset frequency; release to return. Where F-AU sets an offset automatically, use another mode to change it.

Audio Equaliser (EQ)

For analogue modes only. It’s shared across VFO, search and memory. [F] then [7], choose EQ, and turn the dial to choose one of five presets. To customise, press [8] in the EQ item, choose the preset, move with [UP]/[DOWN] between bands, adjust with the dial and press [ENT]. It has limited effect on narrow audio such as SSB or AM.
