UBCD3600XLT Managing Favorites Lists & Location Control

Summary: How to create and manage Favorites Lists on the UBCD3600XLT and how Location Control switches sites and departments on and off by where you are.

Creating and Editing a List

Press Menu, scroll to Manage Favorites and press E/yes.

  • To create a list, choose New Favorites List.
  • To edit a list, select it.

Favorites List Options

  • Review/Edit System – see UBCD3600XLT Programming Systems & System Options.
  • Set FL Quick Key – assign a quick key (0-99, or . for none). A list with no quick key is always scanned unless you turn it off in Select Lists to Monitor. Pressing the first digit of a two-digit quick key gets you closer (1 for 10, 2 for 20, and so on) before you scroll to the second digit.
  • Set FL Number Tag (0-99) – lets you jump to the list quickly from Scan Hold mode.
  • Set FL Startup Key – the default is all keys off. Scroll to each key (0-9), press E/yes to enable and press Menu to save.
  • Use Location Control – the default is Off.
  • Review Avoids – see everything avoided in the list; temporary avoids appear reversed. Select an item and press E/yes to stop avoiding it.
  • Stop All Avoiding – clears every avoided channel, department and system in the list.
  • Rename, Delete, and Information (file size and number of systems).

Understanding Location Control

Location Control enables or disables sites and departments in your lists based on your current location and range settings. It’s always on when you scan the full database.

To use it with a Favorites List you must:

  1. Turn Use Location Control on for that list (the default is Off).
  2. Have locations programmed for sites and departments in the list. You can’t program a location for a system.

With Location Control on, the scanner only sees departments and sites that have a location. Anything without one won’t be scanned. If you append a system or department from the database to a list, its locations come with it.

With Location Control off, everything in the list is enabled no matter what the range settings are.

You don’t need a GPS to scan by location if Location Control is on for the lists you use, you set or select a location, and your sites and departments have locations programmed. The scanner compares your location with theirs. You could program everything you want into one Favorites List and scan just by choosing locations. If you’re travelling long distances, a GPS is the better choice – see UBCD3600XLT GPS, Location Control & Digital Adjustment Mode.

Selecting What to Scan

  • Select Lists to Monitor enables or disables each list (and Search with Scan) for scanning. You must enable a list here before its quick key can work, or you’ll see Nothing to Scan. You need to set a location to enable the database.
  • Set All Lists Off / On turns every list off or on.
  • Manage Quick Key Status enables or disables list and system quick keys from a menu. The alternative is using the number keys.

See UBCD3600XLT Scanning: Quick Keys, Startup Keys & Scan Order.
