Saving, Loading & Merging Multi-Select Lists

Summary: Saving a Multi-Select list under a name, loading it back later, merging several saved lists together, editing one, and deleting old ones you no longer need.

Your working Multi-Select list is session-only by default – it’s cleared each time you close Squawker PC unless you explicitly save it. Save As… and Load Saved…, both in the Review Multi-Select window, are how you turn a combined list you’ve built up into something that survives between sessions, rather than something you have to export or program immediately.

Saving a List

Click Save As… to save whatever’s currently in your working Multi-Select list under a name you choose. If a saved list already has that name, you’re asked whether to overwrite it before anything is replaced.

Loading a List Back

Click Load Saved… to open the Saved Multi-Selects window – a list of everything you’ve saved, each showing its name, item count, and when it was saved. Tick one or more, then choose:

  • Replace Current – clears your working Multi-Select list and replaces it entirely with the selection(s) you loaded. If you had anything in your working list already, you’re asked to confirm first, since it will be discarded.
  • Add to Current – adds the loaded selection(s) on top of whatever’s already in your working list, without clearing anything.

Merging Multiple Saved Lists Together

Because you can tick more than one saved list at once in the Saved Multi-Selects window, Add to Current doubles as a way to merge several saved lists into one combined working list – tick two or three lists, click Add to Current, then Save As under a new name to keep that merged result as a list of its own.

Editing a Saved List

There’s no separate “edit” screen – you edit a saved list by loading it, changing it with the normal Multi-Select workflow (search, tick rows, Add to Multi-Select, or remove rows in the Review window), then Save As again using the same name to overwrite it with your changes. If you want to keep the original untouched, save your edited version under a new name instead.

Deleting a Saved List

In the Saved Multi-Selects window, tick one or more saved lists and click Delete – you’re asked to confirm, since this can’t be undone.

A Few Things Worth Knowing

  • Saved lists are stored in a file on your PC, so they survive restarts – unlike your working Multi-Select list, which doesn’t unless you’ve explicitly saved it.
  • They aren’t tied to a particular database. Since your Multi-Select list can already mix rows from Aviation, WTR, Amateur Repeaters and so on, whatever mix you had at the moment you clicked Save As is what gets saved and loaded back together.
  • They’re specific to your Windows user account on this PC – not synced anywhere else or shared with other devices.
