IC-R15 Bluetooth

Summary: How to turn on Bluetooth on the IC-R15, pair a headset, disconnect it and fix problems.

Overview

The IC-R15 has a built-in Bluetooth 5.2 unit (Class 1, HFP 1.8 headset profile). Only one device can be paired. The range is roughly 10 m (33 ft), and it can be reduced by the environment; microwave ovens and wireless LAN can interfere. Not every device is guaranteed to connect, even if it complies with the Bluetooth standard.

Turn Bluetooth On

MENU, SET, Bluetooth Set, Bluetooth, ON.

Pair a Device

  1. Put the headset into pairing mode (see its manual).
  2. MENU, SET, Bluetooth Set, <<Pairing>>. The receiver searches and lists devices it finds.
  3. Choose your device. The Bluetooth icon shows on the standby screen while connected.
  4. Choose <<Pairing>> again to delete a paired device.

Disconnect

MENU, SET, Bluetooth Set, Bluetooth, OFF, then YES or NO at the confirmation.

Bluetooth Options

  • AF Output (Headset Set; default Headset Only): audio only to the headset, or Headset & Speaker. If a Headset Only connection drops, a dialog asks whether to use the speaker.
  • Auto Disconnect (default OFF): disconnects the headset after 0-10 seconds without audio or operation, reconnecting automatically when a signal arrives, a beep sounds or you operate the receiver.
  • Bluetooth Device Information shows the device details.
  • Initialize Bluetooth Device: if you have trouble, this resets the Bluetooth unit (pairing info is deleted, the settings and unit name remain, and the receiver restarts). Bluetooth settings return to factory values only with a Partial or All Reset.

No Sound?

If no sound comes from the speaker, a Bluetooth device may be connected: disconnect it. See IC-R15 Troubleshooting & Resetting.
