UKAFG Commercial Data Licence Subscription

The UKAFG Commercial Data Licence allows individuals, hobby sellers, radio programmers, organisations and small businesses to use UKAFG frequency data for commercial or business-related purposes. A commercial licence is required whenever UKAFG data or services are used as part of a business, trade, professional service, paid activity, or to assist customers or clients. This applies whether information is viewed, searched, copied, programmed into equipment or otherwise used in the course of commercial activity. Commercial use includes:

• Using UKAFG information to assist customers or clients
• Using UKAFG information as part of your employment, business or professional activities
• Using UKAFG data to investigate radio interference or communications issues on behalf of customers
• Loading UKAFG frequency data into radios intended for resale
• Programming or configuring radios for customers using UKAFG data
• Using UKAFG data within commercial programming software or systems
• Using UKAFG information to support a paid service or commercial operation

Simply browsing or searching the database rather than exporting information does not make the activity personal use. If UKAFG information is being accessed for a business or commercial purpose, a commercial licence is required. What the Licence Allows

• Use of UKAFG frequency data for legitimate business and commercial purposes
• Use of UKAFG information to assist customers, clients or engineers
• Use of UKAFG information for radio interference investigation and troubleshooting undertaken as part of a business or professional service
• Loading UKAFG frequency data into radios intended for resale
• Programming and configuring customers’ radios using UKAFG data
• Using UKAFG data within commercial radio programming activities
• Advertising radios as “Programmed using UKAFG data under commercial licence”
• Access to Squawker PC (Windows program) and Squawker Online (web-based service) for licensed commercial use

What the Licence Does Not Allow

• Reselling or distributing the raw UKAFG database
• Publishing UKAFG data online or making the database available to third parties
• Sharing account access with other individuals unless specifically covered by the licence
• Transferring the licence to another seller, individual or business
• Bulk redistribution of UKAFG data in any form
• Using UKAFG data to create or maintain a competing frequency database or data service

Personal Use vs Commercial Use Personal subscriptions are intended for an individual’s own non-commercial hobby and personal use. If UKAFG information is being used in connection with employment, a business, customers, clients, products or paid services, this is considered commercial use and requires a Commercial Data Licence. Commercial use is determined by the purpose for which UKAFG information is being used, not simply by whether data has been downloaded or exported. For example, using UKAFG to look up frequencies to help resolve a customer’s radio interference issue would constitute commercial use even if the information was only viewed on screen. Licence Term

• Valid for 12 months from the date of purchase
• Single-user / single-business licence unless otherwise agreed
• Renews automatically annually

Why a Commercial Licence Exists UKAFG data is the result of extensive research, verification and ongoing maintenance. The commercial licence allows businesses and individuals who benefit commercially from UKAFG information to use the service legitimately while contributing towards the continued development and maintenance of the database. Commercial use is not limited to selling radios. It also includes using UKAFG information as a resource or tool when providing services, support, programming, troubleshooting or other commercial activities. The £100 annual fee provides commercial access under the terms of the licence and includes Squawker PC and Squawker Online. Attribution Requirement Where UKAFG data is used to programme radios that are subsequently sold, licensed sellers must include the following line in product descriptions or packaging: “Radio programmed using UKAFG data under commercial licence.” Who This Licence Is For
