TRX-2E Specifications

Summary: The TRX-2E’s receiving modes, sensitivity, power, size and other specifications.

Specifications

  • Receiving modes: AM, FM, FM-MOT (Motorola), LTR, CTCSS, DCS, NAC on P25, EDACS wide/narrow, P25 Phase I, X2-TDMA, P25 Phase II, DMR, MotoTRBO Tier II and NXDN
  • Receiver: triple-conversion PLL superheterodyne. IFs: 380.8 MHz, 21.4 MHz and 455 kHz
  • Display: full dot-matrix bitmap LCD, 132 x 65 dots
  • Sensitivity (12 dB SINAD): VHF low 0.2 microvolts; VHF (AM) 0.4; VHF high 137-174 MHz 0.3; 216-300 MHz 0.4; UHF low 300-406 MHz 0.8; UHF 406-512 MHz 0.4; 764-960 MHz 0.5; 1240-1300 MHz 0.5
  • Squelch: threshold AM/FM 0.5 microvolts; tight (S+N)/N AM 20 dB, FM 25 dB
  • Spurious rejection: 40 dB (VHF high at 154.1 MHz). Signal to noise: 35-40 dB typical
  • Scan rate: about 70 channels per second (138-147.9 MHz). Search rate: about 80 steps per second. Scan and search delay: 2 seconds
  • Antenna impedance: 50 ohm
  • Speaker: built-in 77 mm 8-ohm dynamic
  • Operating voltage: 12-14.4V DC, 13.8V nominal, 16V maximum
  • Temperature range (optimal): -10 to 60 C
  • Jacks and connectors: BNC antenna, headphone (front), EXT. SP (rear), USB, LAN (remote head), DC 13.8V

Size and Weight

The printed figures contain obvious slips. Dimensions are given as “75 x 7.125 x 5.31 inch (45 x 180 x 135 mm)”: the 75 should be about 1.75 inch, matching 45 mm, so the radio is about 45 x 180 x 135 mm (H x W x D). Weight is printed as “33.5 oz (9500 g)”: 33.5 oz is about 950 g, so 9500 g is a typing error. Both are without the antenna.

Antennas

Use 50-ohm coax (RG-58 or RG-213). See TRX-2E Setup: Antenna, Headphones & Speakers and TRX-2E Remote Head, Desktop & Mobile Installation.
