IC-R20 Weather Channels & Frequency Tables

Summary: The IC-R20’s weather channel function (USA version only) and the frequency tables in the manual.

Weather Channels (USA Version Only)

These functions aren’t on European receivers. The USA version has NOAA weather channels reached with [MR S.MW]: choose the weather channel group and rotate [R-DIAL]. With WX ALERT set to ON in the set mode, the selected channel is checked every 5 seconds for a weather alert tone. When it’s detected “ALT” and “WX” alternate and a beep sounds until you operate the receiver. The previous weather channel is also checked periodically during standby and while scanning, so you can leave VFO, memory, scan or priority watch running.

Frequency Tables in the Manual

The manual ends with reference tables (mostly for other regions):

  • TV channels for several countries, including a UK table (UK channels from about 49.25 MHz and 182.5 MHz up into UHF 477.75-861.75 MHz), plus China, New Zealand, France, Indonesia, Italy, Taiwan and FOT channels. The TV channel function needs the CS-R20.
  • VHF marine channels (ship transmit and receive frequencies), and the NOAA weather channel frequencies.
  • Other US services: FRS, GMRS, MURS, CB, BRS, UHF citizens radio service, and general aviation frequencies.

For UK frequencies see IC-R20 Loading Frequencies From Squawker PC & Squawker Online.
