UBCD3600XLT Programming Systems & System Options

Summary: How to create a system on the UBCD3600XLT and what each system setting and option does.

Creating a System

  1. Menu, Manage Favorites, choose the Favorites List, then Review/Edit System.
  2. Choose New System.
  3. Choose the type: P25 Trunk, P25 X2-TDMA, P25 One Frequency, Motorola, MOTOTRBO Trunk, DMR One Frequency, EDACS, LTR or Conventional.
  4. At Confirm?, press E/yes.

Motorola or P25? Check the system type in the RadioReference database. Only systems tagged Project 25 Phase I or Phase 2 are P25. Any system type containing the word “Motorola” should be programmed as Motorola, even if it uses some or all digital channels.

System Settings

  • Edit Name
  • Edit Unit ID – Unit IDs are shown only if Display Unit ID is on. For each you can enter the ID, a name, an alert tone and level, and an alert light colour and pattern.
  • Copy System – copies all sites, departments, channels and settings, including quick keys, into the current Favorites List. You’ll name the copy.
  • Edit System and Delete System.

System Options

Menu, Manage Favorites, the list, Review/Edit System, the system, Edit Sys Option. Not every option appears for every system type.

  • Set Quick Key – 0-99 or none. A system with no quick key is always scanned unless avoided.
  • Set Number Tag – 0-99.
  • Set Avoid – Stop Avoiding (default), Temporary Avoid (cancels at power cycle) or Permanent Avoid.
  • Set Hold Time – 0-255 seconds (default 0). Every unavoided channel is scanned at least once regardless. The scanner moves on only after the hold time, any current transmission and the channel delay have all finished.
  • ID Search – On searches all IDs in a trunked system; Off (default) scans only the IDs you’ve programmed.
  • Edit Fleet Map (Motorola Type I and II/I only) – you must program the fleet map for the scanner to track and display talkgroup IDs properly. Choose a size code (0-14) for each block; codes 12, 13 and 14 use several blocks (12 only in blocks 0, 2, 4 or 6; 13 only in blocks 0 and 4; 14 only in block 0). The scanner prompts for the next available block. See UBCD3600XLT Entering IDs, Fleet Maps & Status Bits.
  • Priority ID Scan – use Priority Scan with IDs in the system (default Off; not for P25 One Frequency).
  • Set Status Bit (Motorola only) – Yes treats all received IDs as unique; Ignore (default) rounds IDs down to the next multiple of 16.
  • Set End Code (Motorola only) – Analog (default), Analog+Digital, or Ignore (wait for the carrier to drop).
  • Emergency Alert (Motorola and EDACS) – tone, level and light when an ID has the emergency flag set; default Off.
  • Review ID Avoids and Clear All ID Avoids.
  • Set Audio AGC – analogue and digital toggled separately; default Off.
  • P25 NAC Option (P25 One Frequency) – Search (default) opens for any digital signal and displays the NAC; Set P25 NAC opens only for the NAC you program.
  • Digital Waiting Time (Conventional only) – default 400 ms, 0-1000 ms. It gives the scanner time to decide whether a channel is digital or analogue, to prevent false decodes; it only affects conventional channels whose Audio Type is All. Analogue transmissions lose the start of the transmission up to this wait time.
  • Digital Threshold Mode (Conventional only) – Auto (default), Manual, or Default (threshold 8, Auto).
  • Digital Threshold Level (Conventional only) – 0-20; default 8.
