Saving to Your SD Card & Loading It Onto Your Scanner

Saving as a New File vs Replacing

• Save as New File… writes your current channels as a brand-new CSV file – a Save dialog opens (defaulting to your SD card’s folder), you choose a name and location, and nothing existing is touched. Filenames must be 20 characters or less to be compatible with the scanner.
• Replace Selected File overwrites whichever CSV is currently selected in the “Available CSV Files” list, in place. You’ll always see a confirmation first – a milder one if Auto backup before replacing is switched on, and a much stronger “NO BACKUP” warning if it’s switched off, since in that case the overwrite genuinely can’t be undone.

Before saving, check the Scanner CSV Format dropdown matches the CSV Format your scanner is actually set to (Menu → Set → SD Card → Import/Export → CSV Format on the radio) – if these don’t match, the scanner may misread the file when you import it.

Loading the File Into Your Scanner

Step 1 – Set CSV Format (one-time setup): on the scanner, press Menu, then Set → SD Card → Import/Export → CSV Format, and choose a format matching what you selected in Squawker PC (Sep[,] Dec[.] is the default and recommended option). Press Menu to confirm. You only need to do this once – the scanner remembers it.

Step 2 – Import the file: press Menu, then Set → SD Card → Import/Export → Import, select Memory CH, then ALL, choose your CSV file from the list, choose Import File, and press Yes to confirm.

Step 3 – Restart the scanner: turn it off and back on for the changes to take effect.

Getting the Card Back Into Your Scanner

Squawker PC doesn’t prompt you for this part, so it’s worth spelling out: once you’ve saved your file, safely remove the SD card from your PC (or card reader) the same way you would any USB drive, then physically move it back into your scanner before running through the import steps above.
