Auto-Launching Profiles at Startup

Summary: Marking a profile to open automatically when Squawker PC starts, and how your frequency list stays current while it runs.

Turning Auto Launch On

In Connect Settings, each profile has an Auto launch toggle next to Launch. Click it once to switch a profile on – it saves immediately, with no need to save the settings window afterwards. Click again to turn it off.

What Happens at Startup

Any profile marked Auto launch opens by itself as soon as you log in, one after another, and starts scanning straight away using whatever frequency data is already on your PC – it doesn’t wait for Squawker PC’s usual startup check for newer data first, so you’re not left waiting on a download before your scanner starts.

That check still happens in the background, though. Once it finishes, and after a few minutes’ grace, Squawker PC compares your open Connect window’s frequency list against what’s now on disk. If nothing’s changed, nothing happens. If something has, your list is quietly rebuilt with the up-to-date data, without interrupting anything you’re already logging.

Staying Current While You’re Running

This isn’t just a startup thing – Squawker PC also re-checks for newer frequency data every six hours while it’s running, whether or not the profile was auto-launched. So a PC left scanning for days at a time won’t be stuck using whatever data was current when it was first opened.
