Update Notifications – Browser Alerts

Summary: Turning on browser notifications so you hear about changes in the sections and watch-list items you follow, without visiting the Updates page.

At the top of your Updates page you can switch on notifications, which pop up on your device when something changes in a section you are following.

Turning Them On

Click Enable notifications and allow the browser’s permission prompt. Notifications start switched on for every section you can see, plus everything on your Aviation Watch List.

Choosing What You Are Notified About

Once enabled, click Manage notifications. Tick or untick individual sections, and individual watched airports and categories. Select all and Select none do what they say. Anything you add to your watch list later is switched on for notifications automatically, and removing it drops it again.

Testing

Click Send test in the Manage panel. A notification titled “UKAFG Updates test” should appear within a few seconds. If it doesn’t, check your operating system’s notification settings for that browser. If the page says your subscription has expired, click Disable notifications and then Enable notifications again.

What a Notification Says

The title is the section that changed, and the body summarises it, such as “3 new, 2 updated, 1 removed”. If the change matches something on your watch list it says “On your watch list” followed by the names. Clicking it opens the Updates page.

If It Won’t Work

• “Push notifications aren’t supported in this browser” – use a browser that supports them.
• “Notifications are blocked for this site” – click the padlock icon in the address bar, allow notifications, then reload the page.
• Notifications are per browser and device. Enable them on each device you want alerts on.

Use Disable notifications at any time to stop them on that device.
