This pulls whatever’s currently programmed on your radio into the editor – all 1,000 channel slots across all 10 banks – purely so you can see it. It doesn’t write anything back; it’s a one-way read for review, and it also triggers an automatic backup of what was found, the same safety-net behaviour as the UBC125XLT/C.

Automatic Backup Before Writing

By default, every time you program a BCD160DN or BCD260DN, Squawker PC backs up your scanner’s current programming first, before writing anything new – this happens automatically as long as the setting hasn’t been turned off, exactly as it does for the UBC125XLT/C.

Managing Backups Manually

You can also create a backup on demand, restore a previous one, delete old ones you don’t need, or open the backup folder directly – all from within the Programmer window. If a write ever goes wrong, this is where to look first before assuming your previous setup is lost.
