SDS200E Overview, Features & Specifications

Summary: A tour of the Uniden SDS200E True I/Q base and mobile scanner: what it can receive, what’s in the box, its main features and key specifications.

What the SDS200E Is

The SDS200E is a digital base/mobile TrunkTracker scanner (the manual calls the platform TrunkTracker X) with a True I/Q receiver that captures the complete signal waveform for improved digital error correction and signal recovery in difficult RF environments. It has a customisable, high-resolution colour display, runs from 11-16.6V DC, and has a LAN port. It’s the desktop and vehicle counterpart of the handheld SDS100E: the same memory structure, menus and Sentinel software.

The HomePatrol database, zip code selection, Repeater Find, the reverse list, preset broadcast screens and the weather/SAME functions can only be used in North America. Fire Tone-Out and SAME weather alerts are also marked “For USA only”. Elsewhere you’ll normally scan your own Favorites Lists (see SDS200E Loading Frequencies From Squawker PC & Squawker Online).

What It Receives

  • Trunked systems: Motorola (Type I, II, IIi, X2-TDMA), EDACS (FM, NFM, SCAT), LTR, and APCO 25 Phase 1 and Phase 2 (ASTRO IMBE, ASTRO 25, P25 AMBE HDQPSK).
  • DMR and NXDN: MotoTRBO/Tier III DMR and NEXEDGE/IDAS NXDN. The manual says included upgrades add multiple types of NXDN and DMR trunking as well as EDACS ProVoice decoding.
  • Conventional: analogue and P25 digital channels.

What’s in the Box
