Editing, Sorting & Deleting – Favorites Lists, Systems, Departments & Channels
Summary: Adding, editing, sorting and deleting Favorites Lists, Systems, Departments and Channels – and an important caveat about the System Type dropdown.
Every level of the hierarchy works the same way: an Add button creates a new entry with a sensible default name and, where relevant, the next free Quick Key; editing is entirely inline in the grid – click a cell and type, there’s no separate edit window; and a Delete button removes whatever’s currently selected, always asking you to confirm first.
What Each Level Holds
- Favorites List – Name, Monitor, Quick Key, Hold Time.
- System – Name, Type (see warning below), Quick Key, Avoid, Hold, Hold Time.
- Department – Name, Quick Key, Avoid, Hold.
- Channel – Name, Frequency, Modulation, CTCSS/DCS, Avoid, Priority, Number Tag, Alert Tone, Alert Level.
Deleting Cascades Downward
Deleting a Favorites List also deletes every System (and their Departments and Channels) inside it; deleting a System takes its Departments and Channels with it, and so on – the confirmation prompt spells this out each time, so you always know what you’re about to lose. On the Systems, Departments and Channels grids, you can select multiple rows and press Delete to remove them all in one go; the Favorites Lists grid doesn’t support this multi-select delete in the same way.
Sorting
There’s no dedicated sort button – click any column header to sort by that column, same as any standard table. Nothing about the sort order is remembered between sessions.
Important: the System Type Dropdown Doesn’t Actually Create Trunked Systems
The Type column on a System offers options like P25 Trunk, Motorola, EDACS, LTR, MotoTRBO Trunk, DMR One Freq and NXDN Trunk alongside Conventional – but picking one of these doesn’t change what you can actually store underneath it. Every System in Squawker PC’s editor is really just Departments full of single-frequency Channels, regardless of what Type is selected, and when you write to the scanner, everything is sent as a plain conventional system no matter what Type it says.
