DJ-X100E PC Software, USB & Reset

Summary: How to connect the DJ-X100E to a PC, what Alinco’s free software does, and how to reset the receiver.

PC Connection

Connect the supplied USB cable (Type-C) to a PC: no driver installation is needed, since the receiver is recognised as a USB device, and no optional cable is required. Alinco provides two free programs, downloadable from alinco.com (search for the DJ-X100 software):

  • Utility software for editing memory channels and saving and loading their data files.
  • Geolocation software that displays received characters and position information on an online digital map.

The software needs Windows 10 or later. It’s free for non-commercial use and unsupported individually: Alinco expects you to know basic computer operations, how to view Device Manager and how to save and recall edited data, and it accepts no liability for damage. Software updates end if the product is discontinued. Instructions come with the download. Alinco can’t support third-party software.

Back up your memory with the utility software: the receiver has no backup or restore function of its own.

USB Power Supply and USB Charge settings (Set mode, Power) affect PC use: see DJ-X100E Battery, Charging & Power.

Resets

There are three, each done while switching on from off:

  • Reset (Only display): hold [FUNC] and [MODE] while switching on, releasing when the start-up screen appears. Two beeps; only the display colours return to white on black. Use it if the colours make the screen unreadable.
  • Reset (Partially): hold [FUNC] while switching on, releasing at the “ALINCO DJ-X100” screen. Choose Yes on the RESET screen and press [SET]. Memory channel data and scan information are kept; other settings return to factory values. Use it when the receiver isn’t working properly.
  • Reset (All): hold [FUNC] and [MONI] together while switching on, choose Yes at the RESET screen. This deletes all memory data and returns everything to the factory state. Save memory with the utility software first.

If the display is abnormal, remove all DC sources (USB and battery), wait 10 seconds or more, then hold [FUNC] and connect USB to do a partial reset.

Squawker

The CSV that Squawker PC exports for this radio is intended for loading through Alinco’s utility software (see DJ-X100E Loading Frequencies From Squawker PC & Squawker Online).
