IC-R15 Simple Mode

Summary: The IC-R15’s restricted Simple mode for easy listening to favourites, categories, bands, FM radio and scans.

What It Is

In Simple mode you receive, scan and listen to FM radio by choosing from your favourite channels, categories/groups or bands. It uses the single band display and restricts some operations. The Weather Channel and Weather Alert functions aren’t available in it.

Using It

MENU, SIMPLE MODE, then choose what you want to receive. A Simple mode icon shows on the standby screen. To exit, push [CLEAR] and confirm with YES.

Keys in Simple mode:

• [MENU] – switches between the MENU and standby screens; hold 1 second for Lock.
• [SKIP] – sets a skip channel (SKIP or PSKIP).
• [SCAN] – starts or stops a scan.
• [V/MHz] / [CLEAR] – exits Simple mode.
• [QUICK] / [REC] – Quick Menu; hold 1 second to record.

Receiving

• Favorite: MENU, SIMPLE MODE, Favorite, then rotate [DIAL]. (Add favourites from the Quick Menu; see IC-R15 Memory Channels: Groups, Categories & Editing.)
• Category/Group: choose a group from the category list, then rotate [DIAL].
• Band: choose the band, then rotate [DIAL] to set a frequency.
• FM Radio: choose FM Radio Memory (pick a group, then rotate [DIAL]) or Frequency. Scanning isn’t available here.

Scanning

MENU, SIMPLE MODE, <<Scan>>, choose Favorite, Category/Group or Band. Rotate [DIAL] to change direction. While paused, push [SKIP] to skip a frequency or channel temporarily without changing its skip setting.
