Writing to Your Scanner

Summary: What happens when you click Send to Scanner, and what the completion message actually tells you.

Once your banks are set up the way you want, click Send to Scanner to write everything to the radio.

Confirmation

You’ll always see a confirmation prompt before anything is written – the wording changes depending on your backup setting, the same as the UBC125XLT/C. If automatic backup is switched on (the default), it confirms your existing data will be backed up first. If you’ve turned it off, the warning is stronger, since nothing is protecting your existing data in that case.

While It’s Running

A progress indicator shows what’s happening as it writes. As with the UBC125XLT/C, there’s no button to stop it partway through – once you confirm, it runs through to completion on its own. Closing the Programmer window mid-write shows a warning that the scanner may be left in an incomplete state, but doesn’t cleanly cancel the write already underway.

The Completion Message

Once finished, Squawker PC tells you exactly how many of the 1,000 channel slots were programmed and how many were left cleared, plus how many of those succeeded and how many failed – so you get a genuine tally of what actually made it to the scanner, not just a generic “success” message. If you see any failures reported, restore from your automatic backup and try the write again rather than assuming everything’s fine.

If the Connection Drops

Squawker PC will try to cleanly exit program mode if something goes wrong mid-write, but this is a best-effort attempt, not a guarantee – a genuine mid-write disconnection could leave the radio in an inconsistent state. This is exactly why the automatic backup matters: restore from it if a write is interrupted and something looks wrong afterward.
