How can we help?

Mode Filters

  • Squelch — mute below this level; set to 0 to disable (recommended for SSB/CW, where a hard squelch can cut off weak signals awkwardly).
  • Hang — how long the squelch stays open after a signal drops, from 0.1 to 2.0 seconds. Keep this short for VHF, longer for airband traffic with natural pauses. (This is separate from Scanner mode’s Hold/Max Hold controls, which govern how long the scanner parks on a hit rather than how the squelch itself behaves.)
  • Voice — an audio filter tuned to the voice band, for comms modes (not WFM).
  • NR (noise reduction) with a strength slider — spectral noise reduction, for comms modes only.
  • NB (noise blanker) — removes impulse noise (ignition, powerline, radar-type interference) from the raw signal before demodulation.
  • Notch — an adaptive tone notch that removes steady whistles/heterodyne tones from the demodulated audio (AM/SSB, not WFM).
  • AGC — evens out loud and weak signals to a steadier volume (not WFM).
