Launching a Profile – What Happens When You Connect

Once your profile is set up, select it from the Connect Panel dropdown and click Launch Profile.

Before It Connects

Squawker PC checks that your Postcode (see Creating a Connection Profile) is filled in — without it, you’ll be stopped with a message asking you to set one, since it’s needed for distance calculations.

Connecting

What happens next depends on your Scanner System:

• Uniden BCT15X connects at a fixed speed and starts polling the radio for its current frequency.
• BCD436HP/BCD536HP/UBCD3600XLT/SDS100/SDS200 models identify themselves automatically on connection — Squawker PC asks the radio what model it is and confirms the match.
• If you didn’t pick a specific Uniden model, Squawker PC will try to auto-identify it as an SDS100/SDS200/UBCD3600XLT-family radio first, and fall back to generic Uniden polling if that doesn’t match.
• Whistler and ICOM CI-V radios connect and begin polling in a similar way, each at their own fixed connection speed.
• Proscan doesn’t make a live radio connection at all — it just reads the channel file.

Reading the Connection Status

A status line shows you what’s happening, colour-coded:

• Green — connected and actively receiving data.
• Orange — waiting/retrying (e.g. still trying to reach the radio on the selected port).
• Red — a connection error, usually meaning the cable or COM port needs checking.

NOTE:- If a connection keeps failing, double-check the cable and that the correct COM port is selected in the connect settings panel, changing the usb port can change the com port

A profile that has already been created can be deleted edited or started from the connect settings panel
