Search by Location (My Location, Postcode or Place Name)
The By Location tab lets you centre a search on a point and search everything within a chosen range (see Search Options — Range, ATC & National Frequencies for setting the distance). There are three ways to set that centre point:
- My Location — uses your browser’s location permission to search around where you currently are. Your browser will ask permission to share your location; this requires a secure (HTTPS) connection, and you’ll see a clear status or error message if location access is denied or unavailable.
- Postcode — enter a full UK postcode (e.g. “SO40 2NL”) or just the outward part (e.g. “SO40”) to search around that whole area’s centre.
- Place Name — type a town or city name; suggestions appear as you type (from 2 characters). If more than one place shares that name, a disambiguation popup lists the candidates — with population and place type shown — so you can pick the right one.
Whichever method you use, the same Range field and quick-pick distance buttons apply to the search.
