AR-DV10 Troubleshooting & Specifications

Summary: Fixes for common AR-DV10 problems, and the specifications.

Troubleshooting

• Won’t power on (no display): battery pack discharged or alkaline cells flat; pack or tray not seated; dirty terminals (wipe them dry); loose adapter or car converter plug.
• No sound: squelch too high; CTCSS/DCS active (if CTC or DCS shows, turn it off); a digital mode selected (audio plays only when a signal is detected); VOL ATT set too high.
• Voice barely audible (analogue): try fine-tuning in 1 kHz steps; weak or multipath signal.
• Garbled voice (digital): incompatible mode or an encrypted signal, which is out of scope for this receiver.
• D-STAR call sign not shown, or from/to/rep1/rep2 appear on a non-D-STAR signal: the header hasn’t been received (wait for the next one); noise mistaken for a digital signal (try a better location or bigger antenna).
• Boots slowly, frozen display or not booting to VFO: remove all power for a minute, reinsert the pack and try again; if that fails reboot and do a system reset.

• Audio: speaker at least 700 mW (16 ohm), earphones at least 200 mW (8 ohm).
• Antenna: BNC 50 ohm, or the earphone antenna for FM 64-108 MHz; max input 0 dBm.

Digital Voice Compatibility (Manual Chart Summary)

Decoded: non-encrypted D-STAR, Alinco EJ-47U, Yaesu V/D, D-CR, NXDN (including 15-bit scrambling), dPMR446 (Tier 1), P25 Phase 1, DMR Tier 1 and 2 and TETRA direct mode. Not decoded: Yaesu Voice FR, encrypted signals, trunked systems, P25 Phase 2, dPMR Tier 2 and 3, DMR Tier 3 and TETRA repeater/base transmissions.
