AR-DV10 Backup, Restore & Firmware Update

Summary: Backing up the AR-DV10’s memories to microSD, restoring them and updating the firmware.

Backup

Long press the [REC] key, choose BACKUP and [ENT], choose the file and [ENT]:

• SEARCH BANK – SRCHBK.CSV
• SEARCH GRP. – SRCHGRP.CSV
• MEM CH. – MEMCH.CSV
• MEM BANK – MEMBK.CSV
• SCAN GRP. – SCANGRP.CSV
• SYSTEM – SYSTEM.CSV (all receiver settings)

Files always save to the same names, so a new backup overwrites the last one on the card. Move older backups to your PC first. “WRITING BACK UP” shows.

Restore

Long press [REC], press [ENT], choose the backup file and press [ENT]. You can rename backups (up to 8 ASCII characters); the receiver recognises the type of file whatever it’s called. “WRITING MEMORY” shows while uploading.

Using CSV Files on a PC

The manual says the CSV files can be edited on a PC and uploaded back, but it doesn’t document their columns: make a backup and use it as the template. See AR-DV10 Loading Frequencies From Squawker PC & Squawker Online.

Firmware Update

Get the firmware (for example 1801C.D10) from aorja.com/receivers/ar-dv10.html onto the supplied microSD. Back up first: memory and system data are very likely to be erased by an update. (The manual’s shortcut: hold [REC], press [2] then [6] for a SYSTEM backup.) Have at least 200 MB free if you have lots of scan/search data, and enough battery.

1. Receiver off. Insert the card.
2. Switch on and wait for the microSD icon.
3. [MENU] > CONF > SYS UPDATE > [ENT].
4. Choose the firmware file and press [ENT]. “DO NOT POWER OFF” shows for about a minute; the receiver reboots.

Don’t cut power or remove the card during the update: it could corrupt the system data and isn’t covered by warranty. The firmware is AOR’s property and mustn’t be redistributed.
