AR-DV10 Receive Modes, IF Bandwidth & Squelch

Summary: The AR-DV10’s modes, IF bandwidths and squelch.

Selecting a Mode

Press [MODE], use the arrows and press [ENT]. The first page lists the digital modes:

  • YAES Yaesu C4FM, DSTR D-STAR, DMR (Tier 1/2/MOTOTRBO), D-CR (Japanese D-CR and NXDN 6.25 kHz), dPMR (446 Tier 1), ALIN Alinco EJ-47U, P-25 APCO25 Phase 1 and T-DM TETRA direct mode.

When a digital mode is selected the audio is muted until a signal of that mode is detected. The second page has the analogue modes and AUT1, which auto-detects all the digital modes except TETRA. The squelch stays open in AUT1, so you’ll hear noise.

IF Bandwidth

Long press [MODE], choose IFBW, [ENT], then choose (greyed values can’t be selected). Only analogue modes can be changed; digital modes choose automatically.

  • FM: 6, 15, 30, 100 kHz
  • AM: 3.8, 5.5, 8, 15 kHz
  • USB / LSB: 1.8, 2.6 kHz
  • CW: 200, 500 Hz

Squelch

It silences the noise when no signal is present and works in FM, AM, USB, LSB, CW and AUT1. It has no effect in the individual digital modes, which only pass audio when a signal is detected. Set it correctly for scan and search, where it decides whether a signal is present.

  1. Press SQL/MONI; “NSQ:010” shows.
  2. Turn the dial until the receiver is just silenced.
  3. Press SQL/MONI again to save. Don’t set it too high or weak signals are missed.

Hold SQL/MONI to open the squelch temporarily (monitor).

Types: NSQ (noise squelch, for FM and all digital) and LSQ (level squelch, for AM, LSB, USB, CW). It picks automatically, but you can force it: [MENU], [ENT], VFO EDIT, [ENT] twice, choose NOISE or LEVEL, then go to line 9 VFO PARAM SET and [ENT].
