AR-DV3 Safety, Care & Legal Notes

Summary: The safety and legal points from the AR-DV3 manual.

Received Communications

The manual warns that the legal treatment of what you receive depends on your country. In many places the law prohibits intentionally intercepting communications meant for others, and disclosing or using their content. Don’t reveal the content or existence of intercepted communications or act on it if that would break your local laws. You’re responsible for knowing and following them.

Danger

  • Don’t disassemble or modify the unit.
  • Switch it off where use is prohibited, such as on aircraft.
  • Don’t use it where there’s a fire or explosion risk.
  • If installed in a vehicle, don’t fit it near airbags or where it could interfere with driving.

Warning

  • If there’s smoke or a strange smell, unplug it and contact your AOR dealer.
  • Don’t use it where it could get wet.
  • Set a sensible volume; while driving it can hide surrounding sounds, and earphones at high volume can damage hearing.

Caution

Keep it away from small children, humidity, dust, direct sunlight and heat. Don’t clean it with thinner or benzine; use a soft dry cloth.

Antenna and Power

Keep the antenna input under +30 dBm (1 W) and away from transmitting antennas. Use a regulated supply and a DC-DC converter in vehicles or boats. Connect a ground wire to the M4 ground terminal to reduce shock and interference.

US Consumer Version

Cellular frequencies are blocked and the voice descrambler is disabled in hardware; this can’t be changed by firmware or commands.
