AR-DV3 Loading Frequencies From Squawker PC & Squawker Online

Summary: How to get Squawker frequencies into an AR-DV3, and what isn’t supported.

At a Glance

  • Squawker PC’s Connect panel and Scanner Programmer don’t support the AR-DV3. No live logging or direct programming.
  • Squawker PC has no AR-DV3 export, and neither does Squawker Online. The “Radioscan” export targets AOR’s Radioscan software and isn’t designed for the AR-DV series.
  • The AR-DV3 backs up its memories as CSV files on the SD card and restores them from CSV. AOR also has a PC program, AR-DV3 DataUtility, that the manual mentions when describing memory bank titles; the manual doesn’t describe how to use it, so check AOR’s site (aorja.com) for its instructions. The manual doesn’t document the CSV column layout.

A Practical Route

  1. Back up first ([F] > SD key > BACK UP-SET > MEM CH. or SYSTEM (ALL)). Copy the whole card to your PC. Restoring overwrites the receiver’s data.
  2. Store a few test channels, back up again and open the MEM CH. .CSV in a spreadsheet to see the layout the receiver expects.
  3. In Squawker choose your data and use a CSV or Excel export (Exporting to Files – What Each Format Does and The Export Panel); Squawker PC can export frequencies and names.
  4. Copy frequencies, modes and names into the template, keeping the same columns and formats.
  5. Put the .CSV in the date folder under AR-DV3 on the SD card and restore it: [F] > SD key > LIST-VIEW > select the file > [ENT].

This is untested by us: try a small file first. Alternatively use AOR’s DataUtility for editing.

Things to Check

  • Limits: 2,000 channels (40 banks x 50), 12-character titles.
  • Modes and steps: AM for airband (8.33 kHz if offered), NFM/FM for most other voice; the receiver has no bank-wide auto step, but F-AU sets step and mode by region (set REGION to EURO).
  • Range: up to 3 GHz, so most UK services are covered.
  • Digital: DMR, NXDN, dPMR446, P25 and TETRA are supported unencrypted.
