AR-DV3 Tuning: Steps, Step Adjust & IF Bandwidth

Summary: Setting the frequency, tuning step, step adjust and IF bandwidth on the AR-DV3.

Setting a Frequency

  • Dial: clockwise up, counter-clockwise down, in the current step. Press [F] first for ten times the step.
  • [UP]/[DOWN]: step the frequency (also ten times faster after [F]).
  • Keypad: 82.500 MHz is 8, 2, ., 5, ENT; 594 kHz is 0, ., 5, 9, 4, ENT (leading 0 optional). [UP] deletes the last digit while typing.

Step Frequency

[F] then [2], turn the dial and press [ENT]. Steps are chosen from presets (you can’t type a value). The receive frequency must be divisible by the step. 433.200 MHz suits 20 kHz; 148.010 MHz doesn’t. In auto mode some bands are set for you. For UK airband check the preset step list for 8.33 kHz. Search banks store their own steps.

Step Adjust

For special allocations that aren’t divisible by the step. In the step menu press [PASS] (“ADJ” appears), turn the dial to the adjustment and press [ENT]. The adjustment can only go up to half the step, so some frequencies (for example 145.210 MHz on a 15 kHz step) can’t be reached. A “+” shows when it’s active. To cancel, set the adjustment to 0.

IF Bandwidth

[F] then [MODE], turn the dial, press [ENT]. Choose the best trade-off between interference and audio quality. Changing it cancels auto mode.
