DJ-X100E Troubleshooting, Maintenance & Specifications

Summary: Fixes for common DJ-X100E problems, care and maintenance, and the specifications.

Troubleshooting

  • Nothing on the display when turned on – poor battery connection (clean the battery and terminals with a dry cotton swab); battery exhausted; [POWER] released too soon (hold firmly until it turns on).
  • No sound – volume too low; squelch too high; tone squelch, DCS or codes not matching (hold [MONI] to see if it can be received).
  • Abnormal display – a CPU malfunction: remove all DC sources, wait 10 seconds, then hold [FUNC] and connect USB to do a partial reset.
  • Scan not working – the squelch is open: set it so the noise disappears.
  • Keys and dial don’t work – key lock is on (hold [FUNC] to unlock).
  • Display flashes or goes out during reception – the battery is running low.
  • Can’t start after changing USB settings – plug in USB while holding [FUNC] and [SCAN].
  • Digital or data signals won’t decode – turn Battery Save off, and set the squelch so BUSY disappears when there’s no signal.
  • Buzz on FM radio – see DJ-X100E FM Radio Mode.

If a problem persists after these, try a partial reset.

Care and Maintenance

  • Wipe with a clean dry cloth; never use thinner or benzene. Clean the terminals between the receiver and charging stand with a dry cotton swab.
  • Be careful of condensation: don’t turn it on until it’s dry.
  • Don’t remove or cover labels, and never cover the black circular seal on the back: it equalises internal pressure for waterproofing.
  • Keep the USB and MIC-SP covers closed.
  • IP67: IP6X is dust tight and IPX7 is protection against immersion in fresh water at 1 m for 30 minutes. It’s guaranteed at the factory for one year if used as specified with genuine Alinco accessories and not disassembled. It’s meant to survive rain and accidental drops, not to be used or cleaned under water, and periodic professional maintenance is recommended if this matters to you.
  • Store it in a well-ventilated place and switch on now and then; long storage degrades the battery and can make rubber and plastic brittle.
