DJ-X100E Frequency Counter & Quick Recall

Summary: The DJ-X100E’s F-COUNT frequency counter and its Quick Recall memory for nine complete receive states.

F-COUNT (Frequency Counter)

Finds a strong nearby transmission and shows its frequency.

  1. Press [FUNC], then [SET] to enter F-COUNT (only the dot and MHz show while it searches).
  2. When a strong signal is found its frequency appears. If the signal is lost it starts again.
  3. Hold [SET] to copy the frequency to VFO mode (change the mode if necessary). Press any key to exit.

It works from 50 to 470 MHz in FM mode with 1 kHz resolution. It detects radio waves differently from normal reception, so it only works when someone is transmitting nearby (or you’re close to a transmitter), may not detect some types of signal or weak signals like FM broadcasting, and also responds to noise from devices such as PCs.

Quick Recall

Stores the whole reception state, not only the frequency: the display, memory channels and Set mode items. Numeric keys 1 to 9 can be registered.

Registering: show the state you want, press [FUNC] (if the FUNC icon doesn’t light, that screen can’t be registered), then hold a number key 1-9 until the beep. Recalling: hold the number key while receiving. Hold [0] for the list; [MONI] returns. You can overwrite a registration but not delete it.

Default Quick Recalls (also restored by a partial or all reset): key 1 AM 25 kHz; 2 NFM 12.5 kHz; 3 FM 5 kHz; 4 FM 50 kHz; 5 AIS 25 kHz (AIS channel 1, 161.975 MHz); 6 AM 100 kHz; 7 NFM 12.5 kHz; 8 FM 5 kHz; 9 DCR 6.25 kHz.

The manual lists what can be stored in each status, including VFO mode (frequency, mode, step, offset step, communication settings, display mode), scan selections, memory and bank selections, GPS search settings and Set mode screens. Battery Save on and off is a handy Quick Recall.

QR (Lock) (Set mode) decides whether Quick Recall works while the keys are locked.
