DJ-X100E Communication Settings (CONFIG)

Summary: The DJ-X100E’s tone squelch, digital codes, frequency shift and attenuator settings for each receive mode.

Opening Them

Press [FUNC] then [MODE] for the communication settings screen (the items depend on the mode). Turn the dial, press [SET] or [MODE], and back out with [MONI] or Back. In Memory mode this changes the channel’s settings; on the registration screen the same items appear under Communication Settings. Icons at the bottom explain the keys: [MODE] toggles ON/OFF or plus/minus and [STEP] returns to the initial value.

Common Settings (All Modes)

  • Frequency Shift (0 to +/-99 MHz, default 0): when set, pressing [MONI] on a received frequency shifts to the paired frequency, mainly for relay systems. Example: a relay output of 445.000 MHz with a shift of -5.000000 MHz lets [MONI] receive the 440.000 MHz input. Press [MODE] on the keypad to make it negative. “SHIFT-” shows.
  • Attenuator (OFF, 10 dB, 20 dB): reduces sensitivity when strong nearby signals cause interference, or FM broadcast is heard in the airband. Shown as “ATT 20”. There is no preamp.

For AM, NAM, AIS, ACARS and the 12 kHz IF modes only these two items appear.

Analogue (FM/NFM)

  • Squelch Type: OFF, CTCSS or DCS (default OFF). Set the normal squelch level first; with it left open the tone squelch takes longer. With the type OFF all tones and codes are received.
  • CTCSS Tone (default 67.0 Hz), 50 tones: 67.0, 69.3, 71.9, 74.4, 77.0, 79.7, 82.5, 85.4, 88.5, 91.5, 94.8, 97.4, 100.0, 103.5, 107.2, 110.9, 114.8, 118.8, 123.0, 127.3, 131.8, 136.5, 141.3, 146.2, 151.4, 156.7, 159.8, 162.2, 165.5, 167.9, 171.3, 173.8, 177.3, 179.9, 183.5, 186.2, 189.9, 192.8, 196.6, 199.5, 203.5, 206.5, 210.7, 218.1, 225.7, 229.1, 233.6, 241.8, 250.3, 254.1 Hz.

  • If nothing is heard, check that a tone isn’t set wrongly: hold [MONI] to check.

Digital Modes

  • DCR and NXDN: Sequence Code (001-511 or AUTO, default 228; E version only), User Code / Radio Access Number (OFF or 001-511), Secret Code (OFF or 00001-32767; a scramble-code detection only, not encryption) and Group Code (All stations or 00001-65535).
  • DMR: Slots (AUTO, 1 or 2), Color Code (OFF or 00-15), Group Code (All stations or 00001-65535). DMR is TDMA with two time slots in 12.5 kHz.
  • dPMR: the standard is supported (see the manual for its settings).
  • D-STAR: Code Squelch (OFF or 00-99). Voice only.
  • C4FM (DN): DG-ID (OFF or 0-99).

With a code OFF, everything on the channel is received. Using a code helps avoid interference and stand by only for the intended signal.

Where They Apply

The settings are stored in each memory channel, so you can set a different code per channel.
