IC-R20 Set Mode Reference

Summary: Every Set mode item on the IC-R20 with its options and defaults, including the expanded set mode.

Entering Set Mode

Hold [8 SET] for 1 second. Rotate [R-DIAL] to choose an item, push [8 SET], rotate to choose the value, push [8 SET]. Push [DUALWATCH] to exit.

The receiver has a general set mode (about a third of the items) and an expanded set mode. Turn the expanded mode on or off with SET EXPAND. If a set mode item can’t be found, check that SET EXPAND is ON.

General Set Mode Items

• PRIORITY WATCH (OFF): ON, BELL, OFF.
• KEY-TOUCH BEEP (ON) and BEEP LEVEL (39 levels).
• BACKLIGHT (AUTO): AUTO (lights on operation and goes out after 5 seconds), ON or OFF.
• POWER SAVE (AUTO): AUTO or OFF.
• NOISE BLANKER (OFF), ANL (OFF), AF FILTER (OFF).
• AM ANTENNA (EXT; BAR) and FM ANTENNA (EXT; EARPHONE).

Expanded Set Mode Items

• LOCK (NORMAL): NORMAL, NO SQL, NO VOL, ALL.
• DIAL SPEED-UP (ON), MONITOR (PUSH; or HOLD).
• AUTO POWER OFF (OFF): 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes, or BUSY (3 minutes after the last key press or signal); the setting is kept even when the receiver has been switched off by it.
• SCAN PAUSE (10 s), SCAN RESUME (2 s), SCAN STOP BEEP (OFF).
• SCOPE AF OUTPUT (OFF).
• DUPLEX (OFF; -DUP, +DUP) and OFFSET FREQ (0-159.99999 MHz; per band).
• TONE FREQ (88.5 Hz), DTCS CODE (023), DTCS POLARITY (NORMAL).
• LCD CONTRAST (15 levels).
• BANK LINK (all banks ON).
• WX ALERT (OFF; USA version only).
• CI-V ADDRESS (6C), CI-V BAUD RATE (AUTO; 300, 1200, 4800, 9600, 19200 bps), CI-V TRANSCEIVE (ON).

Selected Details

• CI-V Address: 6C. If two or more IC-R20s share a CT-17, give each a different address between 01 and 7F.
• CI-V Transceive: with an Icom CI-V radio connected, changing the frequency or mode on one changes the other.
